Ran across this one 1092715414 for those of you whjo are interested in Lozier stuff. It is interesting that the motor shown has a base flange at the botton of he case, not in the middle as is usual.

I think that engine does have the base flange at the middle of the base... at the same elevation as the crankshaft. I think what you see in the photo in the upper left is the engine on a wooded base for display. I have one of those early Lozier engines, 1900 or before, made in Toledo, Ohio. They moved to Plattsburg in 1900/1901.
Lozier did a lot of advertising. There is a limited edition series of books on the history of Lake Champlain (I can't remember the author at the moment), one volume is on Lozier and contains primarily copies of early advertisements from RUDDER and the other boating magazines.
By the way, the main Lozier factory building in Plattsburg still exists. It is now owned by Georgia Pacific Paper. I went there about five years ago and was lucky enough to talk my way into a tour of the building by an old timer who was about to retire... his wife's father had worked for Lozier, so he knew some of the history. Unfortunately the the building didn't show many clues to its history... but it was recognizable, inside and out, with the early photos and postcards of the Lozier factory.
