Hello all! First time on this board. I was given an outboard boat motor, the only thing I know about it is that the cover says "Fastwin" and it has the Evinrude logo on it. It was painted with green camo, so the only thing I can see are the raised letters. On the shaft of the motor there is a plate with the following "Evinrude Motors" with the numbers "15036M-05997" Is there any way to know the year and horsepower of the motor? Thanks in advance!!! |

I believe your motor is a 1962, 18 hp 22 cu in. Evinrude that cost $385 back then. Does it weigh about 77#? I don't know what the suffix "M" means on the model number. I've got a Johnson and an Evinrude of the same horsepower. Enjoy it. Ted |

Hi, just picked up a used boat that has a Evinrude "Fastwin" motor with it. How can I find out the year and horsepower, as it needs some work. The serial #18502SE07848. Thank for any help. |

From Peter Hunn's Old Outboards book your motor is a 1965 18 HP. ![](http://www.oldmarineengine.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif) |
