Anybody know what was the connection between "The American Engine Co" and "The Caille Perfection"?
They seem to be one and the same.

I would love some information, pictures, anything on these engines and also the "Wico 01" "Improved high tension igniter magneto".

Nothing official but the Caille, American and Detroit seemed to share a lot of parts. The Americans and Detroits I've seen had swing lever timers, the Cailles had shaft driven timers. Crankcases seemed to be from the same pattern. Caille used a three bolt triangular mount on the waterpump, Detroit used a pump with two mounting bosses, not sure about the American. Caille had a small two bolt exhaust, Detroits I'm familiar with have a large box manifold with two outlets from the engine to the manifold, water and exhaust. Termat & Monihan was just like a Detroit but with four holes in the flywheel instead of three.

I have 8 HP Single Cylinder bottom parts for each. They came from the same patterns. The base covers are "AMERICAN" and "CAILLE". I also have Caille's with brass tags "Gibbens and Stream" with mild steel base covers, no markings. They were dealers in New Orleans back then.
