It is an Atwater Kent timer for two cylinders complete with bracket and brass drive gear. I bought the timer for one of my Easthope engines. The bracket is for some other engine but what? Anyone know...? I can email a larger format picture if it would help anyone. Thanks, Joe

Better make sure which direction it must turn. I cannot tell for sure but it looks like it has two towers at 90 degrees which means it was intended for a four cycle, two cylinder engine It requires a special coil and don't try to adjust or file the points. They move so fast the human eye cannot see them move. It will not work with a typical automotive coil. You can wreck the points if you try. It will not work with a buzz coil either. You have been warned. They are rare and people look for them. |

Thanks for the good advice Dick. Indeed the timer is for a two cylinder four cycle engine and the timer turns clockwise. The question is: what engine is it from, can you tell by the bracket? If you don't recognize the bracket then its not from a Palmer I should think. |

Joe its not from any Palmer I have ever seen photos of. It doesn't ring a bell in any engine I know of. Too bad it doesn't turn counterclock wise and then you could use The timer part on any of the NL and NR or their off-spring like the ZR. Have you gotten my draft write up on the those engines yet. I think I sent it out last Friday or Sat. I also sent some out on Tuesday so you may not have received it yet. Hope you can add some thoughts to it. Regards Dick |

Thanks Dick. Got the draft and have an addition for you. Also, I received an e-mail from a gent in Australia who also has a Palmer "R". His is closed to running. I'll pass it on with my revisions.......Joe |
