http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ctnhvbio/Cuno_Charles.html This article indicates that Charles Cuno arrived in Meriden Conn. in 1907 and began Cuno Engineering Corp in 1913. Has anyone ever seen a timer in steel or 'German silver? (nickel-bronze?) |

Robert, Do you think he possibly operated the Cuno Engineering at some point during his work at the Telephone and Electric Company. Seems like an extensive line for the first year of operations. |

Ah, that sounds likely - gained his experience/inspiration with a previous employer. Here's a nice one to look at, even if we can't afford it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ANTIQUE-BEMUS-TIMER-VINTAGE-MARINE-GAS-ENGINE-NEW _W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ124104QQihZ005QQitemZ150315283981QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZ WDVW |

Ernie I think the Bemus timer is the one I gave Charley Ridal. He gave me a Palmer early belt driven magneto. |

Here's the remains of one I have. I did call Bemus years ago to ask if they might have any drawings or parts etc. but everything was long gone. Nice people to talk to though! (Holes in the handle filled but not yet polished)

thanks Ernie; I bet half the marine engines on the east coast have your fingerprints on them. I can't take credit for the nice looking Q-2 that I own , bought it from Ross Gould in Chatham on Cape Cod. Hope to have it running at the next Mystic show! Dan |
