We believe this to be a Regal(maggy not standard), If so which model?. If not what is it?

This is 1908 Regal Ad, most of their ads show the larger engines !

Regal made engines well into the 1920's-maybe 30's
But looking through my info your engine because of the 90 degree oiler pipe at front of cylinder probably dates 1905-1908 close I think ?

However (if the ads and pics are correct and not mirror image) the camshaft on the B and T and Regal is on the wrong side. |

I forgot to note on the above Regal Twin ad that it was one of those rare photos taken with out the flywheel on! the co used the same ad photo from 1905-06 thru 1908. the photo ads of their larger engs show the cam drive, and the 90 degree
intake manifold etc, but no drip oilers after 08 ??

You're right Ernie about the mirror image, I was thinking about this last night.
I know the photo's are not reversed!. Maybe the add is??.
I wonder if this is a Regal "Knock Off". This seemed to sometimes happen in Australia. I have heard it was quite common in New Zealand.
As mentioned the maggy is not original nor the side plates although the rest seems to be.
The engine came from the Murray River in country Victoria and would probably have only been used in fresh water.

Interested in info on a 1927 Regal 4 cyl. It was rated a 40 hp, and had 6 1/2 bore with about 7 or 8" stroke. I own the boat in which it was originally used. The info I have says is was dual ignition (mag and batt), ran at 500 rpm, and had a 300# flywheel. |
