Anyone want to hazard a guess what this flywheel is from? I found it last week tangled in lobster gear after a little storm we had. It was in about 70 ft. of water, 1/4 mile from Minot's light, off Cohasset, MA I would say it has been there a very long time ,judging by the marine encrustations on it. I took a few measurements--------Diameter -16"X 3" thick. Main journal is 2 1/4'D, Rod journal is 1 1/2"D,Stroke is about 5". It weighs a good 50 or 60 lbs. There are other pieces cemented on to the front face with marine growth. I will leave it outside this Winter, and maybe by Spring, the freezing and thawing will clean it up some. I guess it is about 4 or 5 h.p. If I can identify it maybe I could find the rest of the parts, and get it running. |
