Hi All, I am new to this board. I'm wondering if someone can provide some information on the marine engine in the attached photos. The engine was built by American Engine Co, in Detroit. I am in the process of restoring the engine so any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi Dennis, Not a whole lot of information on this company. Some of their engines looked very similar to Caille engine also Detroit Engine Works however I have never found any evidence that they were part of those companies. I have the Detroit engine works website and have done a little research on some of the marine engine that were manufactured in Detroit. I have a few pic's of American Engines I have collected also a few advertisements. If your interested click on my username and email me. I noticed your engine has some type of reservoir with a injector. Would like to see some close up photo's to figure out what it's for? http://www.antiquengines.com/Detroit_Engine_Works_Menu.htm |
