Quite sure it started life as a Caille Liberty drive outboard. I don't think the flywheel is what came on it from the factory. |

although the cylinder does look Caille the block does not. The liberty single has flanges that stick out horizontially This block does not. There were other manufactors of the same style outboards. Gopher, Gierholtt(Hess), I think its a Heins 57. Please keep us posted. |

Well - in my 1917 Caille catalog on page 30 there is a picture of a Caille Liberty engine that sure looks a lot like this one. As Ernie points out, the flywheel is not right for a Liberty but the flanges and the pivot point are very similar. The seller thought it was a Gray but that is obviously wrong. Here is a link to the eBay item http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2479205501&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT you can look for yourself and see what you think. Cheers |

I have 5 of the liberty singles here, none of the blocks look like this one. The cylinder does. I guess there is a model I do not have |

This could also be a regualr Caille outboard. I looked at one last saturday. Kind of like an Evinrude rowboat motor. Take a look at this page http://caille.8m.com/ |
