It may not be a marine engine - the shaft on the exhaust side is off the camshaft - turning at half engine speed. This is where the timer would have been. The shaft on the other side looks awfully long for a marine engine. And in any case the engine would be mounted way up in the air if it were installed in a small boat. It's probably a water pump engine.Cooling water taken from the output of the main water pump - no need for a second pump on the motor. But no question that it is an early 1900's engine - the mixing valve and the atmospheric intake valve are the indicators of the age. It's probably about 2 HP at 800 RPM - doesn't look abused. miro |

Thanks, Miro! Yeah, there is no governor, so it must have been a constant load application. Water pump fits that. |
