I think all the naptha engines were triples and were tied to the boiler. Kind of reminds me of a 2 cylinder Olds. Maybe http://www.oldmarineengine.com/discus/messages/3454/95522.html |

That last one is pretty amazing. Props, boilers and steam winches to many to count. |

Notice the two men working the shear in the middle of the yard. The props, boilers and winches all look very similar. Wrecking small naval ships or a class of merchant ships built for for WWI perhaps? Interesting to see a proper Atlantic dory in Detroit there. Just reading the comments and someone says these were from the wooden Ferris class ships broken up there: http://www.cocatrez.net/Water/FerrisShips/FerrisShips.html Not the only attempt at wooden cargo ships in WWI that was wrecked on the stocks, so to speak. |
