The one megabyte image at http://www.canoehullabaloo.com/engine/engine-1.jpg shows the front end. The slightly smaller image at http://www.canoehullabaloo.com/engine/engine-2.jpg shows the back end. The larger image at at http://www.canoehullabaloo.com/engine/engine-3.jpg shows the right side. The even larger image at http://www.canoehullabaloo.com/engine/engine-4.jpg shows the left side. Any information would be much appreciated. Could it be from T. M. Chapman in Old Town, Maine? The shiny round object is a quarter for scale. Thanks, Benson |

I will guess the Thrall-Fishback Motor Co. from Detroit, Michigan based on the other images here at http://www.oldmarineengine.com/discus/messages/1/91820.html and ask if anyone has a better idea or more details. Thanks, Benson |

* Thrall-Fishback it is ! By 1910 Thralls had the intake and exhaust together on the side of the cylinder, and had changed name to Thrall Motor Company. With the dual adjustable check valves on the water/pump I would date this eng 1909, cool old eng with the drip oiler on the intake manifold ! Did it have the reverse gear on it that is see in one of the photos ?? * |

Yes, the reverse gear in the background is original and was another clue since it matched the one in the old advertisement that I found here. Thanks for the confirmation! Benson |

Take a good look at the grease cups. It may say Thrall Fishback on them. The red engine in the links above is mine and the grease cups are labled |
