I am doing up a blaxland twin. What is the purpose of the nut at end of crankshaft that tightens against the gear drive Does it have anything to do with the timing ? Or just to hold it in position. Also do you put the pistons in the heads and the attach to crankshaft or put heads on after pistons are bolted on |

I remove the gudgeon pins fit the rings to the pistons and lock the piston in position with timber through the port and replace the gudgeon. It needs 2 people or you can pack the piston up with spacers just giving your self room to fit the pins and circlips. Don't forget to fit the base gasket first. |
