In the process of making a cutaway Blaxland engine I have been able to take the attached pic of the deposit in the water jacket and the way it is splitting the cylinder block. Careful flushing might make it last a little longer but the basic design is against ever avoiding it. Rob Cook |

Your cutaway also shows the reason why you never push a piston right up the bore in a Blaxland. Notice the step in the bore at the top,this will capture the top piston ring. I have seen it happen with a motor sent to me. Rarely do you get them apart again with out sacrificing one part or another. Todd |

The cutaway engine is now completed and a pic is attached. I have resisted the temptation to polish and paint everything and have left it as a working engine that has been cutaway. |
