OK - it's not a Blaxland, but in the absence of a Penguin forum.... I've just picked up a Penguin 8hp twin. Hopefully, I can post the photo ... (nope - too big) A couple of questions which may be faily similar to the Blaxland twin Can anyone help with an idea of fuel consumption please? L/hour or similar. What size prop does one of these normally swing? Mine is for a Payne Yellowtail, (it came with a new hull I just bought) and it seems a bit much engine for the boat. The aperture only allows for a 10 1/2" prop - with 15% diameter clearance (12 1/2" area) We want to pull the flywheel to machine a groove for the electric starter fanbelt - it all seems simple - we have the nut, set-screw and water pump off - do the flywheels need anything beyond a 12" puller to get them off? Any ideas on best sources for parts? Now there's the BIG ask eh? Regards Ian |

About 4>5 liters an hour depending on prop and hull(dont know what a yellow tail looks like) Dont use a puller or you will end up with a two piece flywheel. If you change the pulley on the dynostart to a multi rib pulley(same as Holden Commodore,Ford Falcon etc)you can then run a poly rib belt that is a wide flat belt, which will run on the fly wheel without having to machine it.Just make sure the alignment is good Dont put too much tension on the belt as it can really bugger up the front crank bearing, leave it just tight enough to turn the motor without slipping Re the prop, you may have to get one of our progressive pitch props,I had the same problem with my boat, only 9 1/2 inch appeture,15ft boat, twin blax. Any old how see how it goes Reguards Todd |

Thanks Todd - yes, the ribbed belt sounds good. Have you got a link for the progressive pitch props? Thanks Ian |

Another question re the Penguin... Does anyone know what revs a Penguin 8hp twin is designed to run at? Someone seemed to think that they ran at higher revs than the Blaxland twin. |
