I have a Blaxland 5/7 carbi. A call to the 02 6558 3182 phone number.....(I think it was Joseph I spoke to) reveals that the carbi I have is an Alpha carbi. The top of the fuel bowl is inscribed with "Linkert" near the primer plunger, and "Indianapolis Ind, Made in USA" on the other side of the fuel bowl top. Having just pulled the carbi to bits, indeed it does say Alpha on the side of the fuel bowl. On the bottom of the inlet flange is: H 587, and on the air horn is inscribed: 94-294. I suspect some of these numbers are part numbers. Anyway......What I'd like to know is if there is a gasket set available for these carbies? I know I could make my own, but factory ones look so much neater. Also the previous owner has used heaps of silicone on the joins (I think he must have shares in Dow Corning or Selleys), and there is a small groove at the bottom of the carby mounting flange to the inlet manifold which was blocked with silicone. I assume that this groove is meant to remain open.....am I correct? The float needle is bent, but appears to be working.....if I blow through the fuel inlet, air...or whatever it is that I am expelling, goes through the carby. If I turn the carby upside down and blow into the fuel inlet, it is quite hard to expell air/vapour into the carbi. Can I obtain a new needle, and can I obtain a new float? |
