I have found that Champion L86C plugs work OK. I have not tried them but the Lodge C14 is an equivilent. The original Champion L14 is no longer available.

I also run a solex carb on my P55 and experienced flooding problems. There is no adjustments on this carb and you need to alter the mounting angle of the carb to get fuel level about two thirds of the way up the jet chamber tube when boat is in normal trim. To do this remove float bowl, and refit with the jet chamber outside of its usual position so you can see the fuel. Turn fuel on and check level. Alter mounting angle of carb to adjust. There should be a slotted arrangement against the block to allow for altering the angle.

I also find that loading of the boat can effect the level and you need to be careful where your passengers go.
