Boyd - can you recheck the engine no. as it isn't covered by the ranges of engine nos. on my list. Also, I sent you a pic of a dipstick so you can fabricate youself. Email me if you want exact dimensions.

Chris, I use a Champion L86C which replaces the Champion L14 or UJ12Y as specified in the manual. Ask your local supplier what he has which is equivilent. A KLG F50 is OK as well.

The Fuel mixture specified is 1 in 48 or 50. That is 100 ml of oil to 5 litres of petrol. I always use premium grade fuel as it lasts longer than ULP if not all used up. I have found that Outboard grade oil which is designed for water cooled engines works better than mower type two stroke oil in that there is very little oil residue in the exhaust.

Do you have a P5 manual??

Chris,
The correct spark plug gap is .025 inches or .60 mm for both magneto and coil ignition.

Chris,

I just checked my box of spark plugs and notice that the last plugs I purchased for the P5 are Champion D16. They seem to work very well and are quite cheap.

Cheers, Mike

Chris ....start at about 6mm [1/4 inch] and then decrease it until running is ok. Any more than 6mm and it will be too lean.
