Hello All Thank you for allowing me to post here. I'm curator of The Museum of Gardening, Hassocks, West Sussex & a leading Lawn Mower Historian! My volunteers are presently working on a recent acquisition, a Qualcast Push Mower having been motorised with a Stuart Turner N Type engine, No.6937. I was intrigued to see the post on this site in 2004 on behalf of Peter Giles regarding his ST N Type No. 6936 !!! So we have consecutive engines. We had established that the engine was from 1933 from some lists available on other websites, however were then told they were miss-printed & should have been 1923?? This does not seem to tie up with the later posts in 2004, in particular from the late David Pickop of Davids Fairway Marine, he seems quite certain the engine being discussed (6936) was from 1933.(who now holds his archive?) This type of engine is new to us, we have managed to obtain a replacement cover for the carb & now undertaking a partial re-build including attention the the outer casing which has no doubt in the past had frost damage, with historic welds in evidence. Would be pleased to be put in touch with any ST experts who can give help if required. |
