I am in the UK and recently acquired a complete seized P55MEA which I intend to refurbish and overhaul. It came with a photocopy of a P55 manual, and the illustration in the manual shows many differences to my engine. My unit identity plate states 10 HP at 1650 rpm and is electrostart, the manual is for a 8hp at 1500 rpm with hand starting. Do I need a later model manual? |

Hi Ieuan, Your engine sounds like a P66 which is a 10HP at 1650 and the P55 is 8HP at 1500 as you say The P66 book is available electronically, was scanned by Tim on this net, I will email it to you. I have not been here for a while but have just looked in over the last few days and saw your Q I am on the Isle of wight and have a P55 Cheers Paul |

Ieaun ........not much difference between the P55 and the P66, just the bore and the Hp at the increased RPM. You are lucky to have the Dynastart. I am rebuilding a P55 to put in a boat . These engines can be a bit of a bastard to start some times so i am designing an electric start modification . |

I've replied to an email from Ieaun. You should try and track down a Stuart Control Panel for an authentic setup. Email me if you are interested as we are likely to find one in Victoria (Australian State) through at least one of three reasonable sources for parts. |

Hello Ieaun - I am also in the process of rebuilding a P-55M/E complete with a control panel. I also have a parts P-55M that is so badly stuck I had to give up on it. But you are already talking to the worlds leading experts in rebuilding P-55's, Tim M. and Peter O. Super great guys with a lot of knowledge; they certainly have helped me. Also, Fairways Marine in Malden, Essex. http://www.fairwaysmarine.com/ can tell you some of the history of your engine if you give them a serial number. They also have (very expensive) parts for sale. I'm in upstate NY which is a little bit closer than Australia. Cheers Bob Price |

Bob - I've tried to email you several times over the past weeks - I'm not ignoring you - latest email sent to you last night but the emails keep bouncing back - I'm no expert but the auto reply seems to indicate a security block - your end?? I'll ring my internet provider to find out more. Apologies to all for this public note. |

Tim - you are probably using an ISP that is being blocked by Time/Warner RoadRunner. I've been "talking" to Mark Stretch who is also in Australia about posting a list of old marine engines and he too is blocked. For now plse send your msgs. to Andrew and ask him to forward them to me. What stupid problem this is: RoadRunner is notorious for this and once on the list, it is a real pain to get them to remove the ISP from the list. |

thanks to all who have responded on and off list. I have with my P66 all the electrical ancillaries, a control panel and a 6 gallon fuel tank, Stuart bilge pump and stainless prop shaft, prop etc still attached to the original wooden skeg, all that left of a gentleman's Norfolk Broads dayboat that rotted away from the inside by being left in the rain with a torn cover for a long time. I plan, provided the engine can be revived, to install all back into a traditional river boat hull. |
