I have had a S/T R3m for quite a number of years now .It is not used as a boat engine but as a display engine at rallies. It has been very reliable and has run well over this period ,only needing a change of spark plug now and then . The last outing I noticed emulsified oil dribbling from the exhaust ...the engine still ran well and started easly . However I decided to have a look suspecting that head gasket could be the problem . The gasket appeard OK but in taking off the expansion chamber i saw that there was water in side . To add to the problem I also noticed that the gear box oil was also emulsified and when I cranked the engine oil was being blown from the cranking shaft housing . I am begining to think that I may have oil seal problems but I can not see how water is entering the combustion space ,all gaskets appear ok ,there is no excessive corrosion between the water jacket passages and the combustion space . I will now closely examine the water inlet point, that from the pump out let to the cylinder block. Has any owner of this model experienced a similier problem ..........I will let you know the results ...that is if I can find the problem! |
