Hi everyone. I've recently bought a 15ft yacht which came with a Stuart R3M inboard and reversible gearbox, it cranks over but has no spark and I'm trying to trace the fault, there is an altetnator-looking thing on the right hand side of the engine where the HT lead goes but I'm struggling to identify it. Could anyone help shed some light? There's very little that can go wrong with the magneto, usually of you just clean the points up and reset the gap, you will find that the spark is restored. Don't forget to mix 2 stroke oil in with the petrol (50 to 1 mix) before firing the engine up! |

Thanks Martin is it particularly hard to get to the points or any special tools needed? (apart from feeler gauges) |
