Hi to you all, i have purchased this p55 engine and i cannot yet get pics to upload (kb to big and dont know how to reduce yet) so i have included the link for the courrier i used which has some photos at the bottom.
i would like to know how to date it, and any more info about it, what seems unusuall to me is the exhaust outlet, no dome on the manifold either, output shaft has pulley, what is that bolted to the front of the flywheel, no gear for starter chain? could it have been a radiator cooled gen set?? i have restored mag and carb and she runs a treat (started it with the old foot on the flywheel method!)the idea now is to complete the restoration.
any ideas will be greatley appreciated, if better pics are required i will have to email them.
thanks
martin

Hello there Martin, what you have there is a P55 from a lighting set. first of all you need to join the ST INFO EXCHANGE on yahoo there you will find a shed load of info specificly for stuarts all shapes and sizes you will also be able to date your stuart using its serial number and comparing it with the info in one of the files. the pulley is proberbly for running a water pump and that thing on the front of the flywheel links the engine to a dynamo. the dynamo will have the same flange on its shaft , the two are connected by a flexi ble flat canvase type coupling. if you look through the members photos on stinfoex you will come across a photo of one already restored. hope this helps answer your questions ,regards steve.
