My Amal Carb is dripping slightly on my R3MC. This burns off when the engine is running and poses no danger and obviously my fuel line can be isolated at the off switch. I was wondering what Amal Carb it is though that is used, as I see Ebay has quite a few on there, but i am unsure as to what type. Was wondering if it was worthwhile investing in a spare/new one... Any ideas welcome. C |

Hello Chris - Stuart fitted an Amal '396/2' carburettor. If you find one, grab it; they don't seem to surface very often! Regards, H. |

Can anyone please tell me what size main jet I will require for a Amal 396 carburettor fitted to a Stuart R3 MC Engine? Hole Diameterof jet would be very helpful. Many thanks, Chris. |

Hi Chris For my 1961 R3M which is fitted with an Amal 396 carburettor , the original test sheet from Stuart which was supplied with the engine records that the jets are 60&30 . I was able to purchase from Fairways in Feb 2008 one of each for about 10 Quid , however haven't needed to use either and am keeping them as spares in case the need to use them ever arises. I hope this info. helps. |

Hello Monty, Thank you for the information About the jet sizes. I dont think that I would be able to obtain the jet from Fairways-now marlex Marine as as they have been very unhelpful in not supplying a set of gearbox cone springs despite cashing my cheque whilst ignoring my Emails and phone calls.Chris. |

Can anyone help please re replacement carb for my old p5m. She is running well in neutral but has little power to push the boat. We have tried many things and I am wondering if it is the carb, I have read somewhere that someone replaced theirs With an Amal and the power was restored. Which Amal should I get to fit? thanks |
