I've started to do a major restoration of a nice little R2 lighting plant. One or two problems have come to light-in particular I need the two woodruff keys that hold the two halves of the dynamo coupling to the crankshaft and dynamo respectively. They're both the same size-but can anyone tell me what that size is please, or does anyone actually have any going spare? I could contact Marlex Marine, but I did ask them about a set of piston rings back on December 12th and apart from an acknowlegement have had no further response so I'm not hugely impressed. Regards Philip |

It was so cold and icy in the shed last night that my digital caliper dispaly was incredibly sluggish. However, the width seems to be 5/32 and the length 21/32. Do these figures make any sense? Regards Philip |

Philip ,I would say that you want a B.S . No 60 Woodruff key . The nearest A.N.S.I standard would be a No 505. You should have no trouble obtaining the BS No 60 in the UK . As a matter of interest it was a balmy 27C here on the south coast of West Australia ,400km north it was 47c at Mt Newman and 51c further inland . Thats why I live on the south coast! |

Thanks for that Peter, like you say I should be able to pick these up without much trouble. New main bearings have now been bought,I decided to get decent quality FAG ones as per original, not el cheapo no name jobbies. The last thing on the shopping list is a pair of +20 rings - I picked up a brand new O/S piston complete with gudgeon pin but nothing else. Suspect I'll have to get these made. 27C, good grief the other night it got down to -7 in my shed Regards Philip |
