Can anyone tell me more about my new project? Just picked up this engine described as Stuart Turner 8hp two cylinder marine engine with the following explaination: " Marine Engineer who has retired and given up his workshops. It was working when he took it out of a boat several years ago and he was going to use it but never got round to it.It is dusty but not very rusty! I understand that it is an 8 hp "two cylinder petrol marine engine to MOD spec No 60B710 some service documents with it are dated 1974. but I do not know when it was built It has a reverse gear and starter motor and dynamo" Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping to fit this to a 16ft wooden Clinker boat I am refurbishing. Kind regards Mark

Mark, The motor is a P55ME Stuart Turner fitted with Coil Ignition instead of a Magneto. More info is available from Marlex Marine Technology http://www.stuartturnermarine.co.uk/ who are the new agents for Stuart Spares and info. Regards Dave In OZ |

Hi Mark! if you post the ID no's on the brass tags from motor and gearbox we can identify it more readily! looks like a P55ME to me! later P66s with twin coils had a type 73 gearbox! paul |
