Hi, ive just purchased a stuart on Ebay which i intend to restore and install in my clinker day boat, the problem is i,m not sure if the engine is an "N" series or a P4.ive tried to down to load some photo,s of it but they are to large to be posted so i will try to describe it.Here goes
the cylinder head is held in place with 4 short studs, the cylinder is held in place by 4 short studs the nuts of which are accessed within the cylinder cut outs at all 4 corners above the crank case, the exhaust expansion chamber is connected to the cylinder by 2 long studs which can be removed in 2 halves, the engine has a stuart carb which is spring loaded , the gear selector leaver is of the p5 & p6 type and has clockwise and anti clockwise movement ,the throttle leaver follows the same pattern of movement and is mounted below the gear leaver and on the same axis. after all of this , does anybody out there have a spare cylinder and head as the originals are badly frost damaged. any help or assistance will be greatfully appreciated. many thanks steve.
p.s. i believe it had a wipac "A" mag at one point but is now absent and the reverse gearbox number is n:10288.

Sorry you have not had any response Steve.I can not help much ,it sounds like an early S/T and from what little I have seen of the early ones it may be a "N'model .
I think Kim Siddorm still has a site with a lot of images ....try a GOOGLE on Kim.

I did reply but for some reason my post disappeared from this forum.
It is unlike any of the N marine I have come across also I don't think P4.I am leaning more to the P3 I have plenty of N pics on my webshots to compare also pics from a 1930 Stuart catalogue
