have now taken magneto apart, the magnet is fouling the sides of the case and not turning without a bit of force. it 'seems' to big by 1/2 mm or so. im no expert but i dont think it should do this. theres still no spark but i was holding it with my thumb on the bit that goes to the ht lead and turning it a bit with a screwdriver and got a small shock not much. does that indicate anything? condenser looks fairly new but could be old, not sure. is there a way to test it? thanks in advance |

thanks for the reply todd, would send it but i live in the uk and postage would be a fortune! collapsed bearing you think? would this be a reason why its not sparking at all? what would i be looking for in a collapsed bearing, commplete failure and missing ball bearings or just a bit of play? thanks for the reply |

Dave, try www.magneto.co.uk,they sell spares and service all sorts of maggies, and they are just a little closer to you.Usally the lower race "derails" and then the magnet is able to pull itself over to one side ,fouling on the case |
