Thanks for your advice Nick, everything has been cleaned and checked, gaskets have arrived from Fairways and we are getting a worn spark plug thread fixed. Has anyone had the plugs reduced from 18mm to 14mm,and is it worth doing? Lastly does anyone have any tricks or knowledge,on types of bedding compound or silicon type gaskets and where they should or not be used throughout the engine, any help or advice would be great. Matt and Ron. Ps my dad has been saying that he will be calling a friend who sells diesels for prices, so the p55 needs all the help and advice we can get. |

Mathew When I asked Fairways some time ago I was told they used Hermatite Gold for all the joints which need compound. |

Matt, I used loctite 515 when I rebuilt my engine, on all the dry joints in the crankcase. It is great stuff because it only solidifies in the joint where the air cant get to it. My engine has been going with no problems for about 10 years now since it's rebuild |

Thanks for your advice Nick and Chris, we are rebuilding the top end only, we just want to get back out on the water. After pricing a few small twin cylinder diesels we could probably rebuild two P55 engines for the price. If anyone has a P55 they would like a offer on, do not hesitate to contact me.
