Jamie, it'll be difficult to diagnose without more info. If it runs I doubt that it's a major problem. After it kills does it restart imediatley? Does it have fire when not starting? It could be running out of fuel, flooding, or losing fire. |

might be an air block in the fuel pipe? |

Will it run for 30 sec from cold or hot with the same response? When it dies is the float chamber empty? Will it restart immediately or does it take a phew cranks? Is the exhaust pipe patent? If there is a blockage (partial or complete) in there it does stifle the power. Keep the symptoms coming, we'll get to the bottom of it. If you get there first, tell us what it was. |

Jamie....something that can be the cause of your problem apart from all the others that have been mentioned . Have a look at the small breather hole in your fuel tank filler cap. It is only a small hole but it can be easly blocked with dirt etc .If this happens fuel will not easly run to the float chamber from the gravity feed tank. |

iv checked the fuel breather tap all is clear the float chamber is full after running and it doenst start very easily afta running the exhaust is all clean as blue smoke comes out when it was running but over the weekend im going to leave the sumb plug out and see if its better after that as the spark plug is getting quite wet (im guessing this aint good) but this engine is brill im only 15 and its teaching me loads bout how the carb works and stuff (more like im susing it out) but hopeful with the sumb drained it will run will let you all know as soon as i can cheers for all your help jamie |

its not gettingwater through? i am not sure how the pumps work as i dont own a stuart, but i assume it uses an impeller, a star shaped...thing made of rubber/plastic/metal this may be worn and not sucking water through, or it may be blocked in the pipe by a blockage that has been picked up (our 85hpford mermaid in our trawler got blocked by a small crab once, causing the engine to overheat!) is that any help? |

Jamie.......the water pump on your R3M is a displacement pump,ie it is a piston pump with inlet and outlet valves.Very simple and usually reliable.Your problem may be one of the following.....Either one or both of the valves are not seating or the water ways in the cooling system are blocked. In the case of the valves ,remove the hexagon nut on the top of each valve ,check inside ,very simple ,they may not be seating properly or there may be some debris inside . Blocked water ways ,again simple ,just means finding and cleaning the blockage. |
