Hi all, had the first launching of Cullen Maiden on Sunday and as expected the prop proved too heavy in pitch for the motor, would not get above a fast idle. The raw water pump was a little more difficult to understand, it pumps too much water and chokes the exhaust when at full flow and also prevents the motor getting to full revs even at idle. I have a diverter directly over the side but even though it allows the exhaust gases egress, the load on the motor is considerable so today I fitted a small pump and the motor is considerably happier. Currently I am getting the prop de-pitched and am looking forward to getting it back in a couple of days. On Sunday we motored at an idle for about a mile before the plugs fouled due to the load and of course I left the spare plugs at home, so it was out with the sweep and had to scull home, Wife and the dogasaurus loved this part the best. I am thrilled with the boat and motor, it starts so easily when cranking but the dynastart will not turn it over probably because of tightness or the extra load turning the pump.

Anyway I will keep you posted once I trial with the correct prop.

Cheers Roy

Hi Ben, Thank you. Re the lake, it is actually the sea although it is about 35 miles out through the Sounds to get to open water. Pelorus Sound, Marlborough, NZ. regards, Roy
