Allright, I put the Zenith on in place of the Carter. The Zen. has a better accelerator pump I will assume, because it revs up with WAY less hesitation. I have had trouble getting it to idle right though. The Idle screw (I assume?) serves to stall the motor unless completely closed. The high speed jet hardly makes a difference, I unscrew it turn after turn and it only runs higher and higher slightly. Can anyone educate me more on what I assume is the low speed jet, and why it has to be shut off? Thanks!!!!! Craig |

I found the settings for the carb in the maintenance manual for Gray 4 and 6 cyl engines. A reference section of the manual addresses the number of turns recommended for idle screw and jet. google graymarine manual to find. |
