The 2 main things are a) drain the water from the engine block. There a re usually 2 valaves or pipe plugs. One is on the side - kinda hidden. Once you think you've drained the block, start the engine for about 10-15 seconds - that will blow out any water from the water pump and the exhaust system. There also might be a drain valve on the water pump - if there is, open it before you start the engine. If the exhaust manifold has a plug - take that out to drain it. b) drain the carb bowl. I have found that leaving fuel in the fuel pump over the winter doesn't do anything bad and helps start up next spring. And for next spring, I have found making an adapter that lets me run some water into the manifold helps with getting the water pump to work. |
