I must first admit my lack of knowledge and experience! I am trying to adjust he coupling according to the manual but it does not make sense to me instructions are: remove bolts rotate shaft 360 degrees and both flanges should be parallel and a .003 feeler gauge should not be able to be inserted at any point. But that changes when you put the bolts back in and tighten them At least that is what I see I certainly will appreciate any advise By the way, I am hoping this is to reduce vibration in the shaft? I do have slight vibration you can feel standing next to the engine box while underway Thanks in advance |

Joe, if you find no gap greater than .003 then putting the bolts back in only pulls the flanges together and closes any gap of less than .003, which is inconsequential to alignment. If alignment is good, engine mounting bolts and strut bolts and cutlass bearing are tight then consider checking the prop itself. It doesn't take much of a ding for a prop to give off a bad vibe. |
