I own a rebuilt Seascout 4-91 - in process of installing in boat. I have two paragon transmissions - one on boat, one surplus. I have been told one is 1:1, the other 2:1 reduction - can not figure out how to tell the difference now - rather than waiting 3 months to get everything running. The reduction gear with any ratio was a round housing bolted on the aft end. The larger reverse gears had a similar reduction gear housing. The engine in your pic doesn't have a reduction gear on it.
Note the phantom part of the drawing

You can Rotate your engine one revolution and count the times that the output shaft rotates, buy marking the Output Shaft, with a Felt pen. That will tell you it's a 1 to 1 , or 2 to 1 Ratio. |

Make sure it is in forward. Reverse in a planetary gear is never 1 to 1. |
