Today, we developed a gas leak at the junction of the fuel pump and the engine. Not much gas (less than a pint ) but a LOT of smell from the sheen on the engine block and pan - slow drip into the bilge. The bilge pump came on auto and sucked everything out... however, I do not want to explode. There is no gas in the engine oil. I can't see the pump due to the wood seat and engine bracing... but I CAN see the sheen. My 4-85 manual is for tuning and storing. I need to know if I can just tighten the pump to the engine or is it much worse than that? |

No tightening there would stop an oil leak not a gas one.Likely you have a leak at the diapham or seam. Many of the pumps have a hole to let out the fuel so its not allways going into the crank. |

Steve, There is a NOS gas pump for sale on eBay. Might be money well spent. Opening bid is $35.00 but has a buy-it-now price of $50.00. Item number 221117407739. Jim |
