This is my first post as a new user. 2 questions 1. I am the new owner of a 1932 Richardson (Wah-ta Wah) with a restored Gray model 6-50 (SN 1570-1) I am looking for an owner's manual to complete my documentation of the boat. 2. Having only run it for a few weeks last season I was noticing a loss of power while under load. I tried adjusting the carb but it did not work. After I took the boat out of the water I took the distributer cap off and noticed quite a bit of rust and my friend said that the points were almost "completely closed." Would this cause the engine to work fine at idle and not under load? Is there an electronic ignition available for these and if so would you reccomend it? Thank you for any help you can give. -Bill

Points go closed because of a lack of lubrication. You used to be able to buy the nonionic grease to use on the shaft. There probabley is a kit for that distributor, but i would stay with the points. Yes it will change the way it runs. |

I cleaned the post and set the points and lubed real well. The other day I noticed the same lack of power under load. I removed the cap and found futher rust and the points again closed. We removed the distributor and found that the post is corroded to the point that it is rough and causing wear. I don't think it will polish up so it will continue to fail. I would like to purchase electronic ignition for it. It has an auto-lite IGB4004A-1(or I)K. I have tried PreTronics Ignitor and they said that they didn't have one. Looking for another source or a cross reference for PreTronics. Thanks |

The other company in this bis is mallary. If its a contintial engine there should be farm tractor engine kit that would work from pretronics. I will look through my books later and see whats there. |

That would be great! Thank you! My other option is to send it to Rochester, NY for a "custom" set... what ever that is. Plus that would take the boat out of commission for at least a week and my wife would kill me! I will wait to hear from you. This message board is very helpful. |

It looks like they are not makeing a kit for the tractors with autolite systems. You could sand/ buff your part and or fill the pits with jb weld. I sanded one that was in a cabover truck and installed the engine in another truck, its still running fine. |

Thank you I will give it a try. Do you know where I might get an original or copy of the manual for this model 6-50? |
