Is the gray 6-71 nothing but a 6-51 with twin carbs? What is the horsepower of a 6-71 express.

Hi, does the 6:71 have twin carbs? The only reason im asking is i thought it was a single carb set up. thanks. |

The "Grey 6-71",..You may be asking about the US Navy's "Grey Marine" 6-71, First built in the Late 30's and early 40's,..64HN9-World War 11 Landing Craft,GM/Detroit Diesel Marine Engine and X8708A Twin Disc Mechanical Gear Box are still out there,..today,.mostly in Older Fishing Boats and some in Museum's. 6-71 Express ?? The 64HN9 was 165 HP @ 1800 RPM. |

Hi Howard, it should be 71 hp but if you have the engine number then maybe someone can check this out for you. |

In gas motors:
The 6-51 is 3 1/4X4 Bore and stroke for 200CID The 6-71 Is 3 1/4X4 3/8 for 218CID.
The 6-71 Express is 84HP@3000RPM
The 6-71 Lugger is 68HP@2400RPM
The 6-51 Express is 71HP@3000RPM
The 6-51 Lugger is 55HP@2200RPM |
