I have this engine in a 1946 Ventnor Utility boat. On the reverse gear is a Ventnor Motors plate but I believe they got their motors from Gray. The underside of the reverse gear housing shows 6-105. I see a listing for a Gray 6-104 but nothing for a 105. This engine also came with an aftermarket Knudson aluminum cylinder head and a triple downdraft intake manifold (in addition to a double updraft), also from Knudson out of Los Angeles. Are therte any numbers on the block casting or anywhere I can verify what this engine is? Anyone know anyhting about Knudson? Thanks very much. |

Gosh, I don't know anything about this setup, but I'd sure love to see pictures. You'll see I have a post elsewhere about speed equipment for the Continental/Gray engines. I knew Edmunds made a head (and presumably an intake) for the Continental engines, but I've never heard of Knudson. You might consider checking into the Kaiser-Frazer groups for information about your head and intake, if they're automotive parts that just happened to be used in a marine application it's possible those fellows have heard of them. -Dave |

Look for CWC on the engine block. |

I have found a number cast into the block. . . .K19311. Does this help identify the engine? I'm told it MIGHT be based on a 6 cylinder Ford flathead. Any help would be appreciated. |
