Greetings! Anyone know what the ratio from engine RPM to auxiliary drive shaft RPM is on the Palmer P-60... the driver that drives the water pump?

How about required water flow for engine cooling.. gallons per minute or hour or some similar metric?

Any recommendations as to replacement options to use an electric water pump instead of the direct drive shaft off the motor?

Chip G,

I can't help you with the RPM question.

The cooling needs should match with the flow capability of the Sherwood E20, Jabsco AL41, or even the Oberdorfers used on Atomic 4's.

The real scare with electric pumps is that they can be running when the engine is not, resulting in a backflow possibility from the muffler into the engine and carburetor.

I will sniff around a little and see if I can get a flow rating on one of those pumps.

Regards,
David Grosse
