what year is this palmer m-60? The only numbers on the side of the block are the firing order and 11-30-T. I think this might be date but "T" ? |

The M-60 came out in 1955. I don't know when they changed to the P-60 suspect it was soon after the M-60 came out. Have you any photos of the engine? Is the flywheel about 1-1/2" thick when you include the ring gear or is it about 3" thick? The serial number would be on a brass plate on top of the exhaust manifold or the reverse gear. Does it have a belt driven alternator or is the generator a direct drive off the ignition cam shaft housing? |

The flywheel is 3" thick and the alternator is belt driven. There isn't any brass plate any where on the motor. The motor is in very good running condition. The only brass plate is on the v-drive by Walters. Sorry no pictures yet |

I don't have a firm date yet when they changed the model name to P-60 from M-60 some time in the the 1960s Same on the alternator change from a generator. My guess is in the early 1960s. The flywheel says early 1960s but that is only a qualified guess. If you had the IHC block serial number try an Navistar AKA IHC dealer and he could give you a date I believe. Don't talk Palmer talk Cub Tractor. He will think you are nuts or worse. |
