Hello guys, Just wondering, this may be dumb question, but can a biggish engine like this (weighs more than me!) be worked on while boat is on the hard?! Figure I can "t" in a freshwater flush/line to raw intake? Had a boat with a 1 cyl Farymann in it, and I did that so could flush out salt water...and used that to run it on hard when testing her stop cable, etc. Can I do that with MD2B? Or rather, should I? (and is it worth it?) Boat will be out of water for several months, but I am trying to assess why oil and cooling water was in lazarette locker. (no leak in hull or fittings, I have checked) so must be spewing out while engine running? Do these engines have oil issues? Talking out loud: could be blown oil gasket and rusted exhaust riser at same time? Don't want to try to start it, yet. (rather wait 'til she's on the hard, in case something bad happens! ;-) There is small chance engine needs alot of work, some rusty nuts, a bit messy, to say the least, but was running a few weeks ago, I am told. Sorry for long post, new to this engine, thanks for all your help so far! Shannon |
