Hi all, I rebuilt the engine last year after the head gasket went and seawater welded the piston to the bore, making for an interesting summer and one that I don't want to repeat! The engine started ok back in the water but became increasing difficult, then impossible to start. Over the winter the injectors have been serviced and the fuel lines replaces and bled. Still doesn't want to start although puffs of smoke are coming from the exhaust. The starter motor smokes a little although this may be the protective winter spray burning off (should it get that hot?) and it seems to be killing batteries. I am thinking that the starter and or solenoid are on their way out. Can anyone help? |

It sounds like you need to limber up the engine - your new parts / repair have not been broken in. With the white smoke your injectors seem to be OK. The smoke from the starter means that it is being over-loaded, ad that there is too much friction in the engine. You'll have to find the source of that before you run it much more. miro |
