Larry you know this engine better then the engineer that designed it. I got a new job and I was handed an old box of rusted parts 6t354.4 marine my concern is. can I set all timing marks on crank cam and idler gear and fuel pump or do, I need to install the head re move the valve keeper from # 6 exhaust and dial indicated to set the fuel pump to tdc on f on # 1 cyl this would make or break my rep ,I am A Cat Detroit mechanic Respectfully. I hope i didn't mess up my other post on timeing. The gears are set with the flywheel at tdc the pump is set with the flywheel at 28% btdc. Both marks are supposed to be on the flywheel. My books don't show the valve method of timeing. |
