This is a Perkins P6 truck engine rated to develop 83bhp at 2400rpm. It has a standard vehicle type sump and exhaust manifold. It also has an exhauster mounted to the right of the injection pump, this provides some vacuum for servo assisted braking systems. Perkins also offered this engine for tractors, industrial and marine use, the latter would have many modifications including a water cooled exhaust manifold, special sump, sea water pump etc. and had a continuous rating of 65bhp at 2000rpm.
This engine looks like it was built about 1955 or later. The model was introduced in 1937 and production ended in 1969.

Hello Larry, I do not know my left from right, the exhauster is to the left of the fuel pump. If you intend to do work on the engine I should be able to help as I was a field service engineer for Perkins from 1952 to 1956 before emigrating to NZ. Jim
