I have no book and no manifacturer plate are in, the only thing that sound helpful is an inscription "munchen"... Hi Spotolino, I am a Marine Engineer and I have looked at your photos, but I do not know who made the engine, and I can not read the plate because the photo is dark, sorry, but I just thought I would reply to your post so you know someone has read it. Is there nothing in the boats paperwork about it? or can you trace other owners back and ask them if they know? someone will know, have you tried showing the photos to other Marine Engineers in your country? p,s. Spotolino I have managed to down load your photo of the block, can you track down the foundry in Munchen in Germany via a list of companys, you might find out who they cast engine blocks for, it will be a start. just a thought :-) Keith |

tnx a lot. As you see the only trace is the plate "munchen". No document with the boat, was abandoned for six/seven years... In munchen there is the MAN manifacture engine, but I have no trace about old engines and I have found nothing in the database.. Is a two cylinders engine 9.00/15 cv maximum.. |

Maybe it’s a marinised German tractor engine made in the 50s. In München was a factory called Süddeutsche Bremsen AG (abbreviated: Südbremse) arised from the old Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) from 1920 till 1985 when they merged with the newly founded Knorr-Bremse AG. Besides brakesystems for trains they made diesel engines for Motoren-Werke Mannheim AG (MWM). Among which a two cylinder watercooled diesel engine that was used in tractors (agricultural). Name of the engine MWM-Südbremse TD 15 – four stroke - 2850 CC – 28 PS – 1500 rpm. Other German manufacturers of two cylinder tractor diesel engines were Deutz, Hatz and Eicher. |
