Hello..My name is Robert and I am from Croatia!
At the beginning, sorry on my English..

We have a little problem with this perkins engine.. (we think it is 5.8l and about 130hp)
We are going to rebuild this engine and marinise it!

It is old perkins turbo aspirated engine
Engine code is 3711460, and one more in bottom right corner is MO 2283 B.

It has Simms turbocharger! So first question is, is this turbocharger good?i heard that better option is to replace it with Holster one? I will show you on picture down bellow..

Second question is about:

I must say, that when we bought it, it was rejoined,disambled..(dont know how to say for sure), and problem is in oil pressure leading for turbo charger..this engine had 2 oil filters..1 is for engine lubrification, and second is for turbocharger lubrification..those 2 filter are fitted in oposite side of block..

but, in oil sump on engine block there is blinded hole in pressure relief valve so we think that hole is needed for something..we dont know to connect it with some pipe..i will show you in picture it is way up easy because of my english.

And also, it would be good if someone can show or send me a picture from manual or something where that situation is explained..

PS: that pipe endings what are marked with red, weren't on engine...we found it somewhere and fitted.

Thank you very much

The preasure relief valve has one opening back to the oil pan. This is where the extra oil is returned. i can't really comment on the simms turbo as i have never seen one here in the usa.

It has 1 opening to oil pan, and 1 blinded opening with no hole in there, and 2 little holes for screw...so this place is predicted for something to connect to..

You can see on first picture (sry, didnt know how to put them correctly) in upper part, part that is red rounded, this is what we connect into that place and from that flange we are going to connect it with cooper pipe to engine block(in lower part picture is rounded).

How many word, i am hoping you would understand me :-)

I want is this correct what we do..

We have no schematics for this engine, we dont know was the engine block for turbo or n/a machine...

I found it. The 354 was made for many differant machines and some of them had the oil filters on differant sides. The pipe is to put the oil into the filters if they are on the other side. So if the top hole in the picture is not drilled into the oil passage then your engine does NOT have the pipe in it. Do NOT add a pipe.

hmm...we bought this engine re-assembled, so we don't know what were the guys doing on this machine!
If we don't drill this hole and don't connect this pipe we can't make oil go in turbocharger or to oil filter on left side of block.

We did this way

If you have a filter on that side then you need the pipe.
