Hi Liomshe,
Yes the 1.5 BMC Diesel is 36hp and very reliable, the marine versions was the Captain and the Thornycroft 90, I can not remember the road version No, it was a single letter and number, but good motor factors will help you with that, all spares are still available.

My father had the BMC Captain complete with PRM hydraulic gear box in his 23 ft displacement launch I still have the original brochure off it 3500 rpm gave 38 hp which was a one hour intermittent rating but continuous rating was 31 hp at 3000rpm. This engine was installed in the boat in 1970 and recently I was invited to have a look on board by the present owner and the same engine is there nearly 40 years later |
