I'm new to this engine with the variable pitch propeller. Everything works OK but I was advised to change the thrust rings. This is where I get stuck! It seems, to remove these rings, one first needs to remove the shaft drive block. I can see this can be done as its screwed on the end of the shaft. However 2 of the 3 rings are the inboard side of a solid ring that seems perhaps welded to the shaft(?) - at least pretty solidly fixed! Does this mean the whole propeller shaft has to come out? Be v grateful for any hints and advice please! Thanks v much. Guy.

You must dismantle the propeller head (1) and the propellerblades (2 or 3) and the guides (15). Don’t remove metallblock on the shaft (6). The thrust rings are mounted between the ribs inside the propellerhead. Mind witch way they are mounted.

Thanks v much, Wichmann. The trouble is I've already removed all the propeller assembly.. but the thrust rings don't fit over the metal block or the metal disc that's fixed to the shaft! Unless you cut them (the thrust rings) in half or something?! I get the strong feeling I'm missing something simple and essential here!!! By the way I wonder where your diagram comes from, not seen one like that before - much better than any others I've seen.

Yes, you must cut one of the ring i two pieces. The two last ones, must be cut in just one "end".

Again - thanks v much! Got it now! That's a lot easier. By the way, is there a site where diagrams like that (above) are available?
