I HAVE A 318 CHRYSTLER AND I STARTED IT UP FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2 YEARS THE LIFTERS WERE MAKING SOME NOISE SO I TOOK THE VALVE COVERS OFF AND NOTICED THE OIL TO BE THIN AND IT SMELLED LIKE GAS SO I CHANGED THE OIL AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. |

Check your mechanical fuel pump diaphram-bet its cracked and leaking gas into the base. happened to me on my 6cyl Graymarine. |

Does it have an engine mounted fuel pump? It might be that the diaphram is leaking into the base. |
